Wildfire casualty tied to Glenwood Springs search loss

Richard Tyler, 33, longtime forestry worker and BLM helicopter manager in Glenwood Springs, died while firefighting the Storm King Mountain blaze. His family, including Trent Woods relatives Ruth and Arthur Tyler, attended services in Palisade as the fire killed fourteen firefighters. Tyler had been an Eagle Scout, ski instructor, and recipient of national safety honors, leaving behind wife Patricia and a one-year-old son Andrew.

State Assembly nears budget deal to end year

Negotiators say a tentative settlement could send lawmakers home this weekend. The deal includes a 4 percent pay raise for state workers and a 5 percent raise for teachers with a 1 percent bonus.
