Carmela Magliocchi Byrnes is a chemistry instructor at Craven Community College whose life centers on teaching and lifelong learning. Born in Canada to Italian immigrants, she pursued chemistry and education at York University then Texas A&M, later guiding online instruction and hands on labs, mentoring students, and leading clubs and community outreach. Her programs include Science Club, field trips, Star Party events, a Christmas carol project, a book club, STEM Saturday and Pi Day celebrations, all aimed at engaging diverse learners and building confidence in chemistry.
