The forecast for New Bern and North Carolina calls for partly cloudy conditions with high temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90. A chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected Sunday and Monday as moisture from Tropical Storm Alberto moves in, with tonight’s lows in the lower 70s and tomorrow night variably cloudy with a new shower/ thunderstorm chance.
National forecast notes Alberta has moved inland bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast and humidity rise. Additional rain is expected near a frontal boundary from Iowa to the mid Atlantic with a western Nebraska storm system firing storms from eastern North Dakota to western Minnesota. Tides at Beaufort show 25 ft high and 0.4 ft low with times listed.
South winds at 15 knots expected through tonight. Seas 3 feet overall. Albemarle and Pamlico sounds show waves 1-2 feet.

Ada Worthington Barrow 82 of Craven County died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A native of Clay Root and longtime Dudley’s Cross Roads resident, she belonged to Chapman's United Methodist Church and worked at Hamilton Beach in Washington and Edelmann’s in Vanceboro. Graveside service 2:30 p.m. today at Chapman's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survived by two sons Walter B. Barrow and Robert W. Barrow of Vanceboro, three sisters Ida Barrow Mattie Dail and Faye Worthington, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro.
Helen Perry Shipley 77 of 1604 Race Track Road died Saturday at her home. She was a longtime member of West New Bern Presbyterian Church and several fraternal and retirees groups. Memorial service set for 3 p.m. July 10 at West New Bern Presbyterian Church with Edward G. Duetsch officiating. Survived by widower Stanley T. Shipley. Memorials to American Cancer Society or West New Bern Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Pollock-Wells and Best Funeral Home.
Charlie Marshall Hill of Blounts Creek died Saturday at Beaufort County Hospital aged 73. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church Blounts Creek with burial in Taylor and Lewis Cemetery. Survived by two brothers two sisters and multiple nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Paul Funeral Home Washington.
Charlie Mae Sawyer Tatum of New York City formerly of Maribel North Carolina died Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital New York. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Rivers Morgan Funeral Home. She was the daughter of Ruby Sawyer of Maribel North Carolina.
Richard Thomas French, 18, of New Bern died Friday in Anchorage. The Cotton Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
George Allen Hargett of 1207 Mechanic Street died Saturday at Craven Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Oscar's Mortuary. The residence.
Fred Ransom Ammirata a 40 year old insurance salesman with People's Security Insurance in Havelock was robbed at knifepoint near his car after selling a policy. The suspect a Black man in his early 20s demanded the money from Ammirata claiming a bag holding about 970 dollars in cash and checks belonged to the insurer. No arrests have been made.
Goldie Willis Hardesty, 88, died Saturday. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pollock-Wells and Best Funeral Home in Winston-Salem.
Walter Sutton, 84, of 1931 Ellsworth St., formerly of New Bern, died Friday at 6 j. Funeral arrangements announced by Oscar's Mortuary. He was the brother of Viola S. Jones, whose home is at 828 Murray St., New Bern, N.C.

Benjamin Israel, 21, of 705 Broad Street or 618 Bern Street, was charged Friday with forgery and uttering for signing a $324 North Carolina Department of Social Services check on April 12 without authorization. He posted a $300 secured bond and faces Craven County District Court Tuesday. In separate notes, Gary Tucker reported a shed break in with $1,125 missing and Donnell Parker reported a gunpoint robbery of $325 at 1403 Harrison Street.
