Turkey photography for practice as hunting opens

Wildlife enforcement officer Steve Long and Mike Fan in Trenton have turned camera work into turkey practice along the Trent and Lower Neuse rivers. They note turkeys are wary, with hunting expanding in Craven and Jones counties in 1996 and all of Jones County in 1997. The group, including the National Wild Turkey Federation, monitors Restoration areas, warns about illegal shooting, and offers a 500 dollar reward for reports. Hasell plans a Neuse chapter banquet March 16 in Kinston as pictures of gobblers and courting displays illustrate local turkey behavior.
