Local Lids in Havelock to close after three-year run
Havelock Lids will close on Sept. 6 as part of a nationwide plan to expand in higher populated areas, with a Shelby store also closing. Lidl plans 50 new openings in 12 to 18 months. The Havelock outlet opened in 2017 as one of the first NC stores. Employees may transfer to other locations, with relocation choices unclear.

North Carolina grant backs Waterline Systems expansion
The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority approved 18 grants totaling more than 4.8 million to rural areas to spur business growth and job creation. In Onslow County a 230000 dollar grant funds renovations at Waterline Systems 191000 square foot facility where the firm plans to invest 289900 and add 23 jobs as it expands its catamaran style ferry production on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
