Craven CC Receives Moen Mock Assembly Line

Craven Community College received a mock assembly line from Moen to train students in workforce development classes at the Volt Center. The donation arrived in June alongside new Craven CC WFD programs. Moen plant manager Tony Norwood says the line mirrors real work conditions to prepare associates for immediate employment.

US-17 road segment in Vanceboro to close Friday

A stretch of US-17 Business in Vanceboro will close in both directions Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between mile markers 28.7 and 28.8 near Old Washington Post Road for maintenance to a railroad crossing with detour signs in place for motorists.

Man on Felony Charges After Deputy Evasion

Craven County deputies tried to stop Carlton Blake Nobles during a traffic stop on Lima Road. Nobles, 28, fled and almost struck a deputy, then pulled into a Spring Garden Road residence and was taken into custody. He faces felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, fleeing to elude, and reckless driving to endanger.

Greenland melt speeds sea rise a major climate marker

In Greenland's Helheim Glacier region scientists led by NYU's David Holland report record heat and extreme ice melt. With August temperatures near 52 degrees Fahrenheit, the massive ice sheet is expected to lose roughly 440 billion tons of ice by summer’s end, accelerating global sea level rise.
