The Cherokee leaders and Governor Hunt reached a deal to open a 60000 square foot casino on the reservation with skill based video games and jackpots up to 25000 dollars. Officials say the compact could generate over 100 million dollars annually and create more than 1000 jobs while the tribe receives 70 percent of profits and a gambling corporation takes 30 percent. Some tribal members fear crime and moral decline despite projected economic gains.
