Teen abducted and raped in Havelock burglary
Havelock police report a first degree burglary in which a 14 year old girl was raped and abducted from her home Wednesday night. An unknown white male forced open a sliding door, took her to a wooded area, and assaulted her before she returned home around 2 30 a m. The suspect is described as 5 10 to 6 feet tall, brownish blond hair, possibly a mustache, wearing a turquoise button up shirt. The investigation continues.

Block scheduling shifts start earlier for Jones County students
Jones County students return to school today under a two week earlier start and a shortened summer break. The district approved the change in spring to enable block scheduling at the high school and mid year breaks at Christmas. The system may roll out in 1995 96 with longer class periods and fewer staff hires, while staff development is planned throughout the year to retrain teachers. Announced enrollment is 1602 students for the current year, down from 1993 94.
