Chapel Hill bands forge rock scene with venues and names
In Chapel Hill and nearby Carrboro a budding rock scene thrives around three pillars: a welcoming venue, a local record store, and a radio show that showcases unsigned bands. Merge Records, run by Superchunk members, anchors a scene that favors artistic independence over major-label fame and celebrates quirky name choices like Superchunk and Archers of Loaf.
