Pentagon tailhook report could refer 140 to 150 individuals for possible disciplinary action and anticipate at least a dozen courts martial. Dozens of women allege abuse at the Las Vegas hotel during the Tailhook convention attended by about 1,500 people. Maj. Don Kappel of Cherry Point said no aviators from Cherry Point were present initially, but transient Marines may have attended the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. No charges yet, official comment restricted.

Trooper's car destroyed by fire on US 70 West
A State Highway Patrol car burned after trooper J R High left it. Lt Robert Dunn had stopped a vehicle near the Jones County line on US 70 for a weapon report. A sawed off shotgun was found. no injuries. Maurice Devon Battle, 19, of Kinston, charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Chatsworth Products to Open Plant in Craven County
Chatsworth Products plans a second manufacturing and distribution center in Craven County Industrial Park near New Bern. The Los Angeles based firm will lease the former Mack Trucks building for five years with an option to buy, and will hire two locals at start with six more from California. Suit blames hospital for fall at Craven Regional
A Harlowe woman, Katie B. Oliver, sues Craven Regional Medical Center and Virginia Reciprocal Insurance Co. in Craven County Superior Court over a Dec 17 1991 fall on a ramp from the hospital entrance to the circle driveway. The suit cites violations of state building code including steep ramp, no handrails, and non slip surface. It seeks over $10,000 for injuries to Oliver’s back spine legs and neurological damage, plus medical bills and lost wages. Lawyers Ralph T. Bryant Jr. and Paul M. Quinn filed the suit.
