Sperm whale with 48 pounds of plastic found off Sardinia
A 26-foot female sperm whale beached near Sardinia carried about 48.5 pounds of plastic in its stomach, including a corrugated tube and shopping bags. WWF warns plastic waste endangers Mediterranean marine life, noting a fetus was dead and digestion hindered by the trash. Over recent years multiple whales have died from ingestion.
