County park plan delayed by beach erosion
County commissioners delayed action on Caspersen Beach amid severe erosion threatening undeveloped shore and the Venice water treatment plant pond. A Naples firm proposed options but the board chose to wait until spring, favoring a park plan that accommodates erosion and considering a rubble revetment south of the grain field at 1,000 feet long costing 70 to 100 dollars per foot to protect dunes and stabilize the bluff.
