Venice Reconsiders Water Treatment Plan Over Poor Wells
Utility Director John Lane reports Venice will not implement a proposed water treatment upgrade due to severe deterioration in shallow well quality. Finance Director Bill Kern notes a 90 000 dollar transfer from water reserves will not materially affect the fund. Last year chemicals cost 197 000 dollars. with the new system delayed, similar chemical use is expected. City Manager Dale Rieth calls the cut a calculated risk that proved incorrect.
