The Venice Area Art League will sponsor its first Beaux Arts Ball on Saturday Feb 17 at the Venice Community Center on South Nokomis Ave. Bill Foral and his orchestra will provide music for the BYOB event with special entertainment. Arrangements are led by Mr and Mrs Ralph Atz and Mr and Mrs HC Lippstreuer to help residents prepare costumes and avoid date conflicts.

Englewood Woman Earns USF Master’s in Mental Retardation
Eleanor K. Grudzinski of Englewood earned a master’s degree in mental retardation at the University of South Florida on June 11 after part time study since September 1975. She began schooling in Brooklyn and later studied at St. Leo’s College before graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in mental retardation and education in 1974. She taught at Rodney B. Cox Elementary and Pasco Comprehensive High School and will return to teach at Cox Elementary in Dade City this summer, residing in Zephyrhills.

Englewood Elementary honors volunteers at breakfast
Englewood Elementary School honored volunteers from the 1977 78 school year at a June 12 awards breakfast. Volunteers from classrooms clinic office and trips received certificates as coffee and doughnuts were served. Acting principal Mrs. Nancy Fugate praised the volunteers noting Englewood had the county s second largest volunteer corps.

Ringling to Host Two-Week Sculpture Workshop
Ethelia Patmagrian of Ringling School of Art returns from the International Sculpture Conference in Toronto to lead a two week sculpture workshop in stone carving or clay modeling. Sessions run mornings 9 to 12 from June 19 in Ringling’s new air conditioned studio as part of the summer program. The class fee, including model, is 75 dollars with advance registration at 366-8938.

Venice Area Public Library unveils its Summer Reading program running June 19 to July 28 with the theme Dig in. Activities for ages four to eight run 10 to 10 45 a m daily themes include Animals That Burrow Pirates and Treasures Animal Homes. Programs for ages eight to thirteen run 1 30 to 2 30 p m with Sharks and Their Fossils and Puppetry Workshop. All ages may join Reading Club sessions and a feature length film on select dates.
