Sea oats protect local beach in large scale erosion project
A federally funded beach revegetation program on North Jetty Beach engages about 20 Sarasota County students with the parks and recreation department. They have planted about 1000 sea oats and other vegetation to form dunes that shield the coastline and withstand storm wave action.
