North Port police auction sparks success in first sale
The North Port Police Department held its inaugural auction on July 9 behind the police station. Sixteen bicycles and various items sold with Chief Vic Costello as auctioneer, aided by Lt. Howard Henriksen and Officer Al Hashem. Mayor Margaret Gentle attended to record the sales. An old city truck fetched 55 to 65 dollars while a relic police car sold for 1 dollar. A second auction is planned for confiscated items.
