Deputy Kenneth Barton of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Department earned an associate degree in criminology from Edison Community College through its Port Charlotte branch. The Englewood substation deputy was named Outstanding Scholar, holds a 4.0 GPA, and plans to study at USF Sarasota in January toward a criminology degree and a future doctorate with teaching certification. Enrichment Society installs officers for Englewood club year
The Young Enrichment Society of Englewood elected Wanda Weischhorster president for 1982 83 with Rosemary Cody as vice president, Gail Newcomb as secretary, and Terri Laskowski as treasurer. The group began as a chapter of the Association of Childhood Education in 1970 to aid local children. They withdrew from the national body in 1974 to retain funds for local projects and annually fund material needs for Englewood Elementary School.
