Meadows Banner Invitational Set at Meadows Country Club
The Meadows Country Club will sponsor its Second Annual Banner Invitational on August 27-29. A $210 team fee covers range balls greens fees carts and all activities for the three days. Events include long drive nine hole putting and club throwing contests plus a Friday shotgun start at 10 a.m. and a Sunday finale at 10 a.m. with prizes and a cocktail party.

YMCA Summer Swim Lessons Schedule and Holiday Notice
YMCA announces summer swim lessons for various levels including Adult Non Swimmer and Senior Lifesaving. Classes run through late July with times on Mondays Wednesdays and Tuesdays Thursdays. Due to the July 4 weekend all Monday July 6 classes are canceled with makeup sessions on Friday July 9.

Kopel Named Providence AD and Coach at Providence Day
James Jay Kopel, a Venice High School standout and 1973 VHS graduate, was named Athletic Director at Providence Day School in Charlotte NC. He will remain head football coach and serves as junior varsity basketball coach and English teacher. Kopel, 27, is a 1977 Davidson College graduate and has coached football since 1979. Previously a Furman University graduate assistant for football, he earned his Masters. At Venice, he played on three football teams with a 24-4-1 record and helped VHS win a district basketball title in 1972-73.
