Venice vice mayor urges FAA on airport safety over irrigation plan
Vice mayor Lucie Hall told Venice City Council the FAA’s priority is air safety as it weighs an agreement to use Venice Airport land for a spray effluent irrigation system. The plan, part of sewage treatment upgrades, could affect air traffic, attract birds, and risk shutdown if problems arise. Council approved continuing negotiations 5-2 despite concerns over liability and enforceable safeguards.
