Venice police negotiate pay and benefits amid impasse risk
Venice police and city officials wrapped a three hour session at the Venice Community Center with little progress on pay scale retirement benefits and vacation time. Patrol officers represented by Mike Stuart warned that without agreement at the next meeting an impasse could trigger federal mediation. City director Lucille Doeble said negotiations were getting closer but 15 contract items remain unsettled.
