Dog rescued from alligator canal by Florida deputy
Charlotte County sheriffs deputy Cpl. Robert Fegan found a Labrador puppy near an alligator filled canal behind Riverhouse Condominiums in Rotonda and delivered it to the Port Charlotte Animal Shelter. The dog reportedly belonged to a man named Underwood.

Robbery at Carpet Center on South Tamiami Trail
Thief stole cash and tools totaling 225 dollars from the Carpet Center. Managers say a rear door was apparently unlocked during business hours, then the suspect returned to take the property. A power drill valued at 50 dollars and 175 dollars in cash and checks were taken from a desk.

Donna Jo Goudy of 3524 Wichita Rd Port Charlotte backed her 1970 Ford van into a 1975 Porsche driven by Robert Smith of 155 Glendale Ave Port Charlotte at the corner of SR 776 and SR 771. Damages totaled 100 to the van and 300 to the Porsche with no injuries and no charges filed.

Evans cited for DUI after crossing center stripe on Bypass
William M. Evans, 59, of Rt. 1 Big Pine Key, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his car crossed the center stripe four times and ran off the shoulder on the Bypass. In a separate stop, Jack H. Wilson, 42, of 906 Shannon Ct, failed field tests on East Venice Ave bridge after driving over the line and nearly mounting the medium at the bridge bottom.
