Punta Gorda bar hours denied despite conditional plan
Punta Gorda City Council rejected two revised petitions to extend My Place Bar hours beyond 9 p.m. while agreeing to keep it open to 1 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The vote was 3-2 with Hufnagel and Burke dissenting. The council also approved a Feb 8 1983 referendum to raise canal maintenance fees from 50 to 70 dollars and the cap from 50 to 100 dollars to boost the emergency fund.
