County weighs buying Caspersen island for beach park plans
The Caspersen Trust has declined a donation of the 65 acre Caspersen island off Caspersen Beach while county officials seek a purchase price or other terms. County Attorney Richard Nelson said negotiations aim for a friendly outcome as the island may host parking restrooms and a bridge to the beach park. An appraisal is planned to assess value and access issues before any sale or eminent domain proceeding.
