Puritan Arms Apartments Far From Fire Threat
A brush fire near Puritan Arms Apartments at Center Road and Cortina Boulevard burned three acres and approached within 100 feet of the two story complex. Venice Fire Chief Ted Deming said crews contained the flames quickly and the buildings were not in danger. A teen on a motorcycle was seen in the area shortly before the fire started, and sparks from the muffler may have ignited the brush. The blaze was under control by 12:30 p.m. with the first call logged at 12:17 p.m.
