Burglary, thefts, and a near robbery reported in Englewood
The Charlotte County sheriff's office noted burglars stole 56 dollars in cash and coin rolls from the Englewood Bait House at 1450 Beach Rd. Deputies suspect entry through a southeast window and a pried cash drawer. Other incidents include a model home theft, mailboxes damaged along North Beach Road, and arrests for careless driving and DUI. A Grand Union robbery was thwarted when employees chased off a would-be thief after a 2:45 am attempt on South Indiana Avenue. The suspect is a young white male, about 5'9", 16 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a faded denim jacket.
