The city of Sumner proposes a public improvement along Christy Avenue to lay five foot wide brick and stone sidewalk, with excavation, grading, and drainage work. Funding comes from a special tax assessed on abutting properties, collected via warrants issued by the city clerk and overseen by the mayor and street committee.
The ordinance directs reporting outstanding sidewalk tax and assessments due to Lawrence county city clerk. It requires listing parcels and owners, indicating unpaid special tax for sidewalk construction and related costs, and includes attorney general text from an act adopted in 1805 for sidewalk construction. The measure, Ordinance Number 78, passed November 5 1901 with mayor and city clerk attestation.
