1977 Target Prices Set For Wheat Feed Grains and Cotton
Secretary Bob Bergland announced 1977 target prices adjusted from 1976 levels by index rises and three year yield averages. Upland cotton 47.80 cents per pound. wheat 2.47 dollars per bushel. corn 1.76. sorghum 1.62. barley 1.39. Target prices act as a floor with deficiency payments if market prices fall. thus far deficiency payments have not occurred for wheat, feed grains, or upland cotton.
Farm safety meeting for adult class announced
An adult farmer safety meeting will be held Tuesday at Tripoli under the supervision of Iowa State University’s Fatension Department. Ames Agricultural engineers have developed a Sd-minute fast technique for safer farm operations.

Police Chief Gordon Garrett reports multiple thefts in Sumer. A Stromberg four-barrel carburetor worth 150 dollars was stolen from a Walker Ford Sales lot on East First Street. Postal Service vehicles were vandalized behind the Post Office, with two extension cords taken. A Panasonic 8 track deck and 36 tapes valued at 342 dollars were stolen from a Michael Elliott car in Mc Aaloon’s Super Valu lot. One item recovered.
