Shelburn September 8. A constable from Terre Haute Hartford Michaels fired a volley at miner Thomas Hamilton near the E and T station as Hamilton fled arrest for a board bill. Two bullets pierced Hamilton’s vest before he surrendered and was led to Terre Haute in handcuffs.

Foreign laborers strike tidewater pipeline in Graysville
About 200 foreign workers on the tidewater pipeline east of the Wabash river halted work Monday over missing paychecks. A telegram says checks will arrive Thursday and the dispute may be resolved soon. The contractor expects pipe laying in the county to finish within three weeks.

Young farmer dies of stroke near Carlisle Indiana
Charles A. Munich a well known farmer living east of Carlisle was found dying by the road between Carlisle and Freelandville. He died shortly after at Dr. Thomas Robbins's home from apoplexy while returning from Freelandville. He was 35, survived by a daughter and wife.

Mrs Sarah Duncan aged 60 died in Shelburn on Thursday from stomach trouble. Funeral was held Monday conducted by Rev A M Couchman of Farmersburg. Interment in Liberty cemetery. She leaves husband Jesse Duncan and 11 children. The family moved here about five weeks ago from Pennsylvania.
