Annual Session Of Teachers Association In Sullivan County
The Sullivan County Teachers' Association met for a two day session with large attendance. J. W. Carr of Anderson gave the principal addresses alongside papers by Miss Maud Arnett and others. Dr. Frank W. Gunsaulus spoke on Gladstone at the M E church. George Bicknell was elected president and J. A. Payne vice president. A promotional coal-field train tour organized by Walter S. Bogle included prominent operators and railroad officials, with a musical quartet entertaining in multiple towns and inspections of several mines. Tracks and a new shaft were in progress near the Mildred mine with an E T H railroad crew constructing access.

Toy Pistol Causes Lockjaw and Death
Vance Johnson age 18 of Carlisle died Saturday afternoon from tetanus after a premature discharge of a 22 caliber pistol. He was handling blanks when the weapon fired and embedded a wad in his palm. His father is a rural mail carrier on route three.
