Albert Thomson a lifelong Fairbanks township resident died Monday at his daughter Mary Thompson's home in Illinois. Born July 20, 1823 in Fairbanks, he farmed locally and distributed land to his children. Surviving children include Abijah, Mrs Samaria Johnson, Mrs Alvira Johnson, Mary in Illinois, Albert V., Mrs Arilla Ransford, Dr C E Thomson, and I L Thomson. Funeral held at Drake church with burial in Fairbanks cemetery.

The matrons' oratorical contest at the Christian church Thursday evening awarded Mrs. C. Hol Coffman the prize for Why I Became a Prohibitionist. Music by the high school orchestra directed by Prof. Starbuck and the Mensingers. Judges were Rev. Elias Denney Miss Drake and Prof. Johnson. Other contestants included Mrs. O B Harris Mrs Hugh Giles Mrs G W Titus Mrs W H McGrew and Mrs Guy Snow. A follow up contest is planned with six boys from the high school.

Henry Drake aged 21 died in Union hospital Terre Haute Tuesday. His funeral was held Thursday conducted by Rev Lloyd of Shelburn. He left a young widow Miss Kate Benson and is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Hiram Drake Sr two brothers and three sisters. Illness began three weeks prior and he was cared for at the hospital until death.
