Two Young Bootleggers Stop Deputies Near Glendora
Alva Rusher and Walter Cunningham, northeast of the city, were found with mash and a homemade still after a vehicle broke down near Glendora. Deputies Collins and Douthitt investigated, traced Rusher, and the pair pleaded guilty to illegal liquor possession. Each man paid a $100 fine plus costs and received 30 days at the penal farm.

Dugger Miner Ends Life at Noon in Home
John Livingston aged 38 a Dugger miner living at Dugger killed himself Monday at his residence by cutting his throat with a razor. He acted amid illness and despondency and collapsed after moving from the living room to the adjoining bedroom. His wife found the body. The widow survives.

Made Auto Trip to Phoenix in Eleven Days
Mr and Mrs John A Mattix and Herman Lord completed a 3174 mile drive to Phoenix Arizona in eleven days. Lord led the way as driver and they reported no rain on the trip. They called at Mesa to visit daughters Mrs Dave Rogers and Irene Mattix. Roger’s son broke his arm cranking a flivver.

Death claims S. T. Engle after long illness
S T Engle aged 63 died Friday morning at his brother C L Engle's home west of Paxton after a long stomach cancer struggle. A native of the county, son of Joseph and Letitia Engle, he had lived in Burlington Kansas for 37 years and underwent an operation there without relief. Survived only by C L Engle. Funeral Saturday at the Carlisle Christian church residence with Rev Mills. Providence cemetery burial.

Last night a fire at Glendora wiped out John Robertson's general store and the Templeton Coal Company office. The blaze, likely sparked by ashes from a switch engine, caused several thousand dollars in damage with Robertson carrying 2000 in insurance. the coal company's building and safe contents were also destroyed.

Passing of Mann's Grove and Old Sunday School Society
Turman Township Sunday School Association officers vote to sell the old grove property west of Graysville including the speakers stand seats and refreshment stand. The sale marks the end of one of the county's oldest organizations once disrupted by 1918 timber sales for war needs. The Hoosier Veneer Company later bought the timber. Gummere Case Upheld By State Supreme Court
The state supreme court affirmed the Sullivan circuit court ruling in Bonnie Gummere of Shelburn versus Co. and E. L. Railroad Co. Damages awarded to Gummere’s widow totaled $8,600 for the death of her husband, a caretaker killed in a wreck while a carload of goods moved from Shelburn. The court ruled damages were not excessive and that the decedent did not contribute to his death.
