Dr Thomas A Mason was thrown from his buggy at Thirteenth and Chestnut, his right leg broken above the knee. Car No 33 struck the rear of the buggy, demolishing it. He was taken home to 301 North Fifteenth street and received aid from Dr Larkins.
The Burlington Route releases a 16 page illustrated folder titled In Scenic Colorado featuring a relief map and travel information for summer trips. It mails to interested readers upon application, with instructions to mention this paper and address L. W. Wakeley, G P A, St. Louis Mo.
A report notes W T Douthitt and family attending a baptism at Indian Prairie church last Sunday. Rev E Sanford performed the rites and recently left a pastorate to serve in northern counties. A brief weather line mentions frost and cool conditions.
Miner Robert Highfield of Caldonia fell 50 feet with a loaded coal car in a shaft Saturday. He backed into the fall while moving a car and survived unhurt thanks to a water pool at the shaft bottom breaking the fall. His escape drew comparisons to a lions den incident.
A Saturday game between the home team and a visiting ladies club drew crowds to the sidewalks outside the Mc Cammon House. Loafers and bystanders filled the space to greet the players and watch the event.

J F DeVol an engineer at Roberts Johnson Rand shoe factory narrowly avoided death when a four pound disk shaped meteor struck ground beside him on Thirteenth and Alullaapby streets at 9 am. The meteor weighed four pounds, four and a half inches in diameter and appeared reddish brown with crystals. It retained heat for two hours, emitted gas initially and was examined by Father Borgmeyer and St Louis University. DeVol 56, of 3957 Maffitt Avenue, born in Indiana, is a World War II era cavalry veteran and brother of James DeVol.
Last Saturday afternoon a lightning bolt struck the southwest part of town at the Burnett residence, causing minor damage to a chimney. Mrs. Burnett was alone and unharmed. The lightning also split the flagstaff at the Sullivan courthouse, while the tower suffered no further damage.
Boarders and roomers including Mrs Mary Crooks are noted at South Section Street in a local property listing.

A midnight hold up near Jeters Corner West of the square left residents startled. A little fat man robs the victim at gunpoint then flees toward town while a tall suspect looms in the description. An attempted break in at Geo Dutton’s home caused a broken window pane and a morning wake up.
Dr. Hurty reports 1901 Indiana preventable deaths total 9 377. Leading cause consumption 4 662 followed by diarrheal diseases 2 501 and typhoid 1 198. Smallpox and scarlet fever are minor. Pulmonary tuberculosis peaks in April and falls in September. non pulmonary TB peaks in February. Most pulmonary TB deaths occur ages 20 to 25.
Milford suffered a major fire in an entire east side block of Main street causing a total loss of 30000 dollars with about 20000 dollars covered by insurance. Several local business firms were destroyed or damaged in the blaze.

C. C. Brown faces trial in the circuit court for the murder of Joseph Groves. The crime occurred in Arcadia last November, with proceedings advancing in Noblesville.
Douglas Sutherlin, about 40, farmer, was killed by lightning while working near Rockville Indiana. The report notes his reliance on family and marks May 26 as the date of death.

Albert Whitcomb of Hayden attempted suicide by cutting his throat with a razor in North Vernon Indiana. He will recover Melancholia was the cause and authorities report he is expected to pull through.
