Samuel Richardson a Cass Township resident was assaulted Friday near the Indianapolis Southern depot. He was struck on the head with a brick or club, leaving a deep wound. James Harvey Crowder formerly of Sullivan Iowa died Friday at his Missouri Valley home from paralysis after years of ill health. Born April 4 1841 in Putnam County Indiana he served in the Civil War with brothers who also enlisted. He moved to Missouri Valley after 1868 where he was postmaster for 14 years and later ran a jewelry business. He leaves a wife Ella Brown four children and was active in Belden Post G A R and Mason. Funeral services were held at Rose Hill with G A R and Masons assisting.
