Ida Wolfe Cottrell 26 an ex wife and mother living with her mother in Sullivan is jailed in Terre Haute charged with murdering Arthur Pelton 25 a pianist after a quarrel in Sullivan. Witnesses say Pelton struck her and she fired once hitting his chest. she then attempted to poison herself but was stopped. Pelton died en route to hospital. Cottrell claimed self defense in a turbulent relationship spanning Indianapolis Harrisburg and Sullivan with prior marriages and a daughter Eva Marratta.

Despondent Indiana woman shoots self in left breast
Mrs. Frank Wyman of two miles west of Hymera attempted suicide early yesterday morning, firing a revolver into her left side. Despondent over the deaths of two former husbands, she was stopped by her husband who wrested the gun. She is at St. Anthony's hospital in Terre Haute with the bullet not near heart or lungs. She has a son, Ralph Waldorf, ten, from a prior marriage to George Waldorf. Her second husband, George Welch, and third husband, Frank Wyman, are noted, with Welch killed in a mine accident and Wyman a Jackson Hill miner.

Passenger Train 94 Collision Shakes Car Carriage
Passenger train No 94 second section on the C & E I railroad collided with freight train No 46 on a Shelburn siding around 425 Saturday morning. The rear of the caboose was demolished and the pilot damaged but all coaches stayed on track. Fireman killed in earlier Henderson wreck.

Dewey Shepard, 16, of Shelburn, arrested Sunday night in Sullivan on charges of stealing a horse and buggy from Osborn west of Shelburn. The rig was recovered at a Sullivan livery barn.
