Dr. Charles F. Briggs longtime Sullivan physician died Saturday after a heart attack aged 54 He planned retirement and to mentor his son Carl who had just graduated from Rush Medical College Briggs served in the Civil War and practiced medicine after studying at Ohio Medical College He leaves a wife and two children with funeral rites held at his residence and attended by Odd Fellows and G A R members.
Lee Evans a clerk at Brokaws store in New Lebanon was badly hurt when a dog spurred sheep causing his buggy to run off a bridge. His right collarbone broken, head bruised, eye blocked and hip hurt while his wife and child escaped injury. They were helped by Chas Bass and wife and taken to New Lebanon. Dr Lisman treated him.

A Sunday afternoon game drew about 400 spectators at Coffmans Park. Sullivan defeated Shelburn as Kellams and the Orr brothers opposed Pearce and Lowery. Kellams struck out thirteen and led a strong Sullivan offensive showing.

The KE and T H will operate a special train from Sullivan to Terre Haute for the Account Annual Gathering in Indiana on June 29 1902. Departure 9 45 a m arrive 10 30 a m with round trip tickets 85 cents good only on the special train. Train leaves Terre Haute to return at 5 p m.
A. A. Holmes from Sullivan Indiana requests changing his Union’s address to Fort Brady Inch from Fort Wayne Michigan. He recounts relief by the 1st Battalion 14th Infantry and arrival at Sault Ste Marie with the 3rd Infantry Michigan Militia guiding them to barracks. He notes the climate akin to March and remarks on seasonal observations from prior trips.
Benoni Trueblood of two miles west of Fairbanks, a stock buyer, fell thirty to forty feet from the top of a barn loft Saturday while repairing a hay fork track. He suffered a severe scalp wound, a broken rib, and possible internal injuries. Doctors Crowder and Neff attended him. recovery is doubtful.

J A Mattix sold his hardware store to Will Rigga and J B Turmans after ten years in the hardware and implement business. Mattix retires for health reasons, having built a well paying business. successors are two experienced young businessmen.
Mrs Ward Jewell of nine miles northwest of town suffered a knee dislocation when a horse spooked while she entered a buggy for church. Dr Edwards attended and replaced the knee during treatment.
The twelve year old son of Charles Brackall fell from a horse on Sunday and broke his leg. He is getting along as well as could be expected.
