Whale back steamer Thomas Wilson cut in two near Duluth
The Thomas Wilson under Captain Cameron was split by the George G. Hadley about a half mile south of the Duluth canal on Saturday. Nine men, mostly night crew members, perished as the vessel sank before they could escape their bunks.

Judge Massie Visits Merom for Commencement
Judge Wm. A. Massie of Carson City Nevada arrived in Merom for commencement exercises. He has two sons living there Robbie and Hinkle Massie with Robbie among the graduates. Massie formerly owned the UNION and was a leading attorney and supreme judge of Nevada. He first left Merom around 1887 and has returned several times since.
