Sylvester McGrew 46, a Terre Haute brick mason and former Hymera resident, was found dead beside Illinois Central tracks near Irvington Chicago. He left home suddenly last Saturday amid troubles and drinking. He leaves a critically ill wife and six children. identification came from a note found on his person.

Alfred McClellan twenty was killed at the Keeley mine in Dugger while driving coal. He was a son of Mr and Mrs Sterrit McClellan of Cass township and single. The accident occurred Thursday at 3 30 when slate fell during his last trip. Funeral held Friday at Dugger cemetery. The Keeley mine is owned by Sullivan Co Coal Co formerly owned by Job Freeman of Linton. McClellan had prior injuries in the Sunflower mine last winter and a damage suit is pending against the Sunflower company.

Clock That Ticks Since 1827 Stirs Fairbanks Township Pride
Sullivan county preserves an old wooden clock said to date to 1827 during John Quincy Adams presidency. Isaac Patton bought it for four steers weighing a total of two thousand pounds. The timepiece, once posted with 1820 census data and postage rates, now belongs to Chas Mundell of Shelburn after easing through generations.

Several Barns Destroyed By Fire Near Sullivan
Fires damaged multiple barns near Sullivan including John C. Ford's five miles northeast of town where a hay and feed barn and one horse burned. Steve Leach's hay barn near Ford also destroyed with about 75 tons of hay and insured at eight dollars per ton. Jack Houpt's barn four miles east of Sullivan was completely destroyed last week.
