Jacobs dies Monday night while exonerating Pirtle in a postmortem that found fatal bullet wounds. Miss Mary Jacobs dies Friday afternoon from heart disease after learning of the shooting. Coroner sets inquest for Thursday in Carlisle.

Two Boys Rob Caledonia Postoffice
George Atkinson aged 14 and Bennie Lamb aged 12 were caught burglarizing the Caledonia company store and post office on a Thursday night. They were jailed in Sullivan, then released by Judge Harris after a lectures. The pair, aided by two others, had pried a board to enter and took candy tobacco and small change over three nights.

July Fourth celebration in Sullivan drew an estimated 12 000 attendees with about 200 from the East and West on Illinois Central trains and similar numbers on the E and T H. The day featured music by local bands, a parade by business groups and Yam Yams, and afternoon speeches at Coffmans Park. A bicycle leap act was canceled after the performer was injured and balloon ascensions were foiled by wind. Horse races at the fair grounds attracted a large crowd with results listed for county and free for all pace and trot. Fireworks and concerts closed the event with minor, nonserious accidents reported.

Prospect Good for Interurban Line to Sullivan County
Three Terre Haute men County Treasurer Clark ex Auditor Soules and contractor W C Dorsey secured a franchise from county commissioners for an electric interurban to Sullivan county line and say the road will be built. They report encouragement along the line of the proposed road have secured much right of way and will organize a company to handle the proposition. It is felt there will be ample funding. Later lines from Linton to Jasonville will also be built.
