How Michau Kept His Vow on the Le Hardy Farm
Antoine Michau refuses to yield to Le Hardy in a long standing feud over Jeanne Marie. After an avalanche moves Michau’s cottage onto Le Hardy’s land, the two men improvise a truce with Michau trapped in a chicken coop. Le Hardy feeds him and finally offers escape by stepping onto Le Hardy soil after mortifyingly turning over a garden path soil. Jeanne Marie’s father finally consents to the marriage with Michau, who remains bound by his vow to avoid stepping on Le Hardy land.
