Tragedy On Hunt Ends In Fatal Accident
Ira Railsback, 24, son of Jackson Township assessor, was accidentally shot in the head by William Mayes while hunting near a straw stack Monday. Railsback died Tuesday night after suffering from the wound. The two friends had been chasing a rabbit when Railsback stepped into Mayes range. Railsback had recently married and was related to local officials and Mayes’ wife.

Walter McCrocklin of Farmersburg Ends His Life
Walter McCrocklin of Farmersburg, long known in the area, hanged himself Monday in the Southern Insane Hospital at Evansville where he had been an inmate for about a year. He had earlier attempted suicide by shooting before his admission last summer. His death follows the passing of his father after his asylum admission. Remains and burial were in Farmersburg.
