Homer H. Curtis 49, trustee of Gill township, died at his Merom home after a brief pneumonia illness following influenza. He assumed trusteeship at year start, had long Merom Station ties, and was active in politics. Burial at Merom cemetery. survived by widow Ella Curtis, mother Mrs. Jane Curtis, and sister Mrs. Lou Oxburn. He belonged to Methodist church and Masonic lodge.

Close Call Burns Wesley Davis In Gasoline Fire
Wesley Davis of the Cora Bedwell area suffered serious burns when his clothing ignited from burning gasoline while draining a car tank after a carbide lamp flare. Neighbor Porter J. Dix and others intervened. Davis and Herman Wright were burned but survive, with Dr. notes of recovery ahead. Davis, son of Charley Davis, works as a cobbler for Cowles Parkhurst Company.

Dooley Arrested in Columbus on Liquor Charge
William D. Dooley, under bond on a grand jury indictment for defrauding Elizabeth and Nellie Shepherd of Jackson township of $1000 in Liberty bonds, is arrested in Columbus Indiana on a liquor charge and held for post office robbery inquiry. He and Wesley Mills of Louisville were released for liquor charge. indictments returned and they are held without bond. Dooley was raised in Sullivan.

Veterinarian to Test Cattle for Tuberculosis in Sullivan County
Dr E E Coshow an inspector with the Bureau of Animal Husbandry U S Dept of Agriculture will be in Sullivan county during the week of February 26 to test cattle for tuberculosis. He will test 89 herds totaling 899 head following action by Sullivan City Council requiring all milk sold locally to come from tuberculin tested cows. Last week 118 head were tested and 14 were condemned for tuberculosis.

Orchard development boosts fruit marketing in New Tennessee region
