Robinson of Indianapolis a Republican candidate for U S senator will visit Sullivan county Saturday speaking at the court house at 7 30 p m He arrives Farmersburg around 1 p m and visits Shelburn about 3 30 p m The 35 year old lawyer is a former Marion County state senator and Republican floor leader He advocates nation wide prohibition and will discuss vital questions beyond party lines The public is invited to attend at the court house Saturday night.
Sunday school workers and James M. Lang seek to form a Boys Athletic Association for ages eleven to sixteen. Sullivan school board grants permission for gym use at the gym building with two evenings weekly and possible extra nights if membership grows. Rules of the building must be followed as the organization aims to improve boys physical condition and indoor sports with a city wide potential.
Tri Kappa Sorority hosts an anniversary charity dance at the Elks Home on Washington's Birthday Tuesday evening Feb 22. Dancing starts at 8 30 with music by the Wooslow orchestra.
The Knights of Pythias announce work in the third rank at K. of P. hall tonight at 7:30. All members and visiting brothers are urged to attend.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Co E Watson of Turman township on Wednesday morning February 9. The baby was named John Warren and both mother and child are doing nicely.
A. B. Thurber a rural route carrier from Sullivan born February 29 1848 in Laporte County Indiana will turn 68 on the 29th of February noting the leap year anomaly by calling it his 16th birthday. The notice references leap years and mentions Uncle Tom Pogue of Turman Township who would be 84 on the same date.
Thurber, aged 68, is one of the oldest rural carriers in the county and will mark 13 years of service on April 1, 1916, as a rural route carrier from Sullivan. He began on route one then transferred to route eight. Samuel A. Bolts of Hymera is a leap year baby, but his exact age is not known.
County Commissioners ruled the Sullivan local option petition insufficient after removing 17 signers, leaving 168 valid names though 185 were required. No local option election will be held at this time, with uncertainty about future efforts to pursue the measure.
The Exline rural school in Cass township five miles east of Sullivan was consumed with its contents early Friday. Built two years ago it was one of the county’s best rural schools. All records books papers and equipment were lost. Loss estimated at 4000, partially insured. Classes will be held in a nearby store room. Miss Lola Thrasher teaches.

Johnson cites the direct primary system's expense and limited resources, noting even historic figures would struggle under current conditions as local and state campaigns intensified.

Carlisle February 15 John B Bayard Vincennes architect awarded the contract to prepare plans and specifications for the Carnegie public library to be erected this summer. Plans go to the Carnegie Commission for approval after completion bids will be sought for construction. Carnegie will pay 10000 dollars Carlisle and Haddon township provide a site construction will be brick with Bedford stone and a tile roof and a one story plus basement structure.
The Union lists public sales by Irenes W Burkholder at his farm 5 12 miles northwest of Sullivan next Tuesday including horses cattle hogs hay corn and farm implements A N L Burton Son Graysville also advertises a sale next Wednesday with 45 head of Duroc sows and other hogs plus cows and calves Harve McNabb announces a sale at his farm 1-2 mile east of Merom Station on Tuesday February 29 including horses mules farming implements wagons buggies.
The report shows total expenditures and receipts of 11 754 518 and 19 372 968 respectively. For the six days the excess of expenditures over receipts was 7 618 450 with the balance dwindling at 1 269 741 per day.
The regular meeting of Sullivan Commandery No. 54 Knights Templar will be held tomorrow night. Friday night the annual inspection will be conducted by Adrian Hamersley grand commander of the Grand Commandery of Indiana. Full attendance is desired.

Frank Hiatt, county assessor, is linked to Cullop in management and a possible postmaster bid if Cullop wins. Dr George Billman may seek mayor, while Bedwell and Campbell influence the representative contest as campaigns intensify.
Revival services led by Rev. S. I. Lang at the Baptist church attracted crowds with 15 new members joining on Sunday and 38 total accessions for the first week. The Y M C A of the city attended Monday evening and the men's choir is a featured element as services run through next Sunday.
