Prominent Citizen Charles Cooper Dies After Stroke
Charles W. Cooper, 62, of Merom, a major Gill township landowner and grain dealer, died after a stroke at the Farmers' Union Elevator in Merom Station. He had been manager and a large stockholder there. The death shocked the community as Mrs. Cooper was in Indianapolis with a daughter when he passed. Funeral services were held at Merom Methodist Church with local clergymen officiating and Masonic and Woodmen lodges in attendance.

James F. Nicholas Dies at 81 in City
James F. Nicholas, 81, of North Section street, died last Thursday night from complications of diseases. A brick mason and contractor, he helped build the Sullivan county jail and lived in this city for years. He was active in the Masonic lodge. Survived by widow Mrs. Mery J. Nicholas, one daughter Mrs. Charles Meier, and three sons Howard, Carl, and Frank Nicholas. Funeral from his home Saturday afternoon, conducted by R. W. Hoffman, burial at Center Ridge cemetery.
