The Christmas weather history notes one clear day in twenty years with mild average temperatures and sporadic snow and rain. It lists highs and lows from 1881 to 1902, notes on ground snow days, and depth records, plus a list of marriages issued since the last report.
The record shows license No 12 issued December 23 to William R. McKinley and Cliva A Stewart. Opened August 7, 1901, it contains 1,158 licenses to marry. first license No. 12 went to Charles M. Zenor and May Dorothy The.
In Lewis Indiana Der 27 the Dysart family gathered at Dr J O Beckwith home for a Sunday reunion. It marked the first time in thirty three years that the brothers and sisters were together with guests including Dr J O Beckwith and wife Mrs E A Wright of Wersaw Ohio and many Dysart relatives from Ohio Indiana and Nebr.
A fierce gale accompanied the cold spell that hit the city yesterday morning. The thermometer fell to 49 degrees in 24 hours, with wind velocity rising sharply. Widespread damage followed including downed wires, burned and crossed phones, and disrupted telephone service. The light plant smoke stack blew down, leaving streets dark. Trains through Sullivan were delayed and rural routes were only partially served due to high water in Busseron Creek.
Visitors in Sullivan encountered Santa Claus out in the open during the last week with churches hosting events and Elks delivering gifts to 150 children. Infirmary residents received a Christmas tree and gifts from the Superintendent and donors as bands performed a brief service.

The jurors are to appear on Tuesday the third day of January.
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Morgan was celebrated at their Gill township home with about one hundred friends. Rev. David Ryan spoke, Rev. J. Bruner gave a speech, and music followed. The couple married December 22, 1854 and have four children, seventeen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
