Mine Operator Freeman Dies by Suicide in Terre Haute Hotel

Priv Paul A Woodard of Company H 111th Infantry was severely wounded November 10, just before the armistice. A telegram from the War Department to his brother John F Woodard five miles west of Sullivan confirmed the injury and promised further details as soon as available.

Walter Griffith Dies Sudden in Kansas City
Walter Griffith aged 32 died suddenly in Kansas City Missouri after a brief relapse from influenza. He lived southeast of Sullivan and was a fireman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was unmarried, survived by his parents and two sisters Mrs William Brock and Mrs Len McGuire. Funeral services were held at the Coalmont Baptist church with burial in the IX the P cemetery.

Farmersburg Men Charged With Robbery
Charles Clark and David Cummins of Farmersburg were arrested Saturday night in Terre Haute on robbery charges. They had about 400 dollars worth of copper wire they tried to dispose of. Over 800 dollars of copper wire had been stolen from Baldridge mine days earlier. Authorities alerted Terre Haute police and junk dealers to watch for copper wire sales. The men await trial in Sullivan.

Miss Goldie Woodard Undergoes Appendectomy

James J. Loudermilk, a Sullivan veteran who served in two wars, dies at his son's home in Hazen Arkansas. He was connected with local veterans groups and remembered for his long service. Funeral arrangements were expected to be announced locally.

The last surviving Mexican War veteran in Sullivan County, James J. Loudermilk, died December 3 at his son Winfield Loudermilk’s home in Hazen Arkansas. He served in Company G 149th Indiana Infantry and Company H 2nd Indiana Infantry. Born September 6 1824 in North Carolina, he moved to Knox County in 1839 and later to Haddon township. Survived by nine children including Winfield, Wesley, Mrs. John W. Wilson, Mrs. Ed Sinclair, Linder, Mrs. James Neal, and Joe R. Loudermilk.
