Mrs. Decker Stewart left two children alone after going to a neighbor’s. Returning, she found the house burning with the roof collapsing. One child escaped badly burned, while the other died in the flames. Authorities note the children had been playing with fire.
In Mishawaka Indiana on December 12 a two story wooden building owned by Bernard Scoerstmann fell during mortar work. Charles Schmidt and Nichols were injured. Bernard Hoerstman Isaac Williams Kenny Kizer DeFre among the injured. The collapse occurred without warning, trapping workers inside.
Albert Ward a barber and son of Dr. Albert O. Ward was killed when Morris Dalton struck him with a brick after Ward allegedly approached while intoxicated and threatened him. Dalton surrendered to police claiming self defense and said a friend warned him of a razor during the confrontation.

Knightstown reported Mrs Linda Hinchman sailed from New York to Cuba after telegraphed news of her daughter Florence Hamm widow of Capt Vinton Hamm once at Depauw University. In Waterloo, Leas Brothers hay barns burned destroying 500 tons of hay and causing 6000 dollars in losses. The Indiana board of health reported anthrax deaths among cattle near Switz City Greene County with about half of a 60 head herd dying within a week.
