Deserted Army Soldier Arrested Here at Mother’s Home
John Salyards, 29, who deserted from the regular army three years ago, was arrested Saturday by Chief of Police Smith within 20 minutes of arriving at his mother’s house in the city. He had roamed the country and spent time in Missouri working in timber before being taken to Indianapolis. He is the brother of Jack Salyards, also a former soldier, noted for having a heartbeat on the right side of his body.

George W. McKinney dies after extended illness
George W. McKinney a well known farmer who had lived with his nephew Bert Walters died Saturday evening after an extended illness. Born in Indiana December 20 1840 he resided here most of his life and is survived by his wife and two daughters. Burial took place at Providence Tuesday afternoon.

Funeral of Mrs Collier Held at Bushell Home
The funeral of Mrs Hazel Collier, killed by her divorced husband in Akron Ohio last week, was held Thursday afternoon at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Dave Bushell just north of Akron. Rev P C Lisman of the M B church conducted the services. Two diamond rings and other jewelry and a watch and locket belonging to Mrs Collier were not returned with the body.
