A Hamilton Township GOP meeting at G A R hall named W R Nesbit as chairman and Robert P White as secretary. Trustees and assessor nominees were chosen, with delegates listed for county convention districts and alternates named. James A Payne gave a rousing address.
The New Lebanon meeting named Will Daugherty as chair and Dr. I. J. Gill as secretary. Professor McHenry elected chairman and T. B. Springer delegate to the judicial convention with Will Daugherty as alternate. T. A. Knotts and George McNabb nominated for assessor and trustee by acclamation. Delegates and alternates list includes many names such as Bloomer Pinkston C. E. Setzer Mat H. Berry Julius A. Hoseman and others.
At Dugger Cass township chaired by Dr. C. M. Lowder and secretary Thomas C. Esline officials nominated W. B. Taylor for trustee and George Ringer for assessor. Delegates to county convention include Joe Crawford Charles Wonders Theodore Rogers Caleb Lowder 8. W. Exline J. W. Grimes John Hammack J. E. Anderson David Bedwell S. O. Turman township Republicans met in Graysville to pick delegates to the county convention and township officers. T. I. Cushman was elected chairman and Harry Evans secretary. Delegates named include Frank Haupt Alex Gray Ed Eno Ab Ridgeway J N Weir William Coppage Charles Boles Sparks Willie Burton William Ingersoll J M Moore T K Cushman Sam Ridgeway Warren Watson. Cora Phillips was chosen delegate and Walter Weir alternate to the judicial convention.
Haddon township held a meeting in Carlisle with Capt. Jesse Haddon as chairman and Arthur D. Cutler as secretary. Frank Starmer of Carlisle was named township trustee and William A. Gray of Paxton was chosen assessor.
The Republican nominating convention met in Fairbanks Saturday evening chaired by EH H Dilley. Elected township officers include Trustee O D Johnson and Assessor George Smock. For judicial convention delegates E H Dilley and alternate L B Hale. County convention delegates named: C B Harrison O M Chambers James Osburn George Smock Taylor Jewell Will Lester John Ramsen.
Miss Edna Benefield and Taylor Edward were united in marriage Sunday morning at the bride’s mother’s home with Elder Francis of the Christian church presiding. The Women’s Club will meet Friday afternoon at Mrs. O. B. Harris’s home, moved from the Higbee residence.

In Vincennes on April 15 during a night session of the Sted damase case Denis Leveron vs Charles Robbins a compromise ended the trial Robbins agreeing to pay Leveron 5000 and bear all costs about 240. The suit charged Robbins with alienating the plaintiff's wife’s affections and about forty witnesses testified in a hotly contested case. Levern resides near Oakland a wealthy farmer Robbins a wealthy stock dealer of the same locality.
On May 16 three rural mail carriers start delivering to patrons on routes out of Carlisle. Route 1 crosses the iron bridge west of town to Calaway corner and Ben Shepherds then to Wester corner, past local farms, and back to Carlisle. Route 2 follows Pleasantville road to Pleasantville and back. Route 3 serves the Little Giant mine area.
President L J Aldrich states he accepted the presidency of Phillips academy at New Rockford North Dakota, a Christian institution backed by the American Education Society and Congregational groups. He cites health climate and new opportunity, thanks Sullivan county supporters, and notes ongoing support to Union Christian college and its students.
Tuesday afternoon EH Crowder and M B Shepler were driving from Merom when a dog at William Woodard's ran into the road and tangled in the wheels. The car overturned in the road, both occupants thrown out but unharmed. The seat was torn, machine otherwise undamaged.
The Union announces a large carnival in Sullivan from May 9 to May 14 with Wright's electric attractions. Daily and nightly shows run for one week on East Washington Street on grounds prepared for a large influx of visitors.
The town board, at its Thursday night meeting, declined a five year street fair franchise. Opposition from local business people and citizens led to the denial of the Lucas Stivers Crowder Dunlap and Draper franchise application.

Indianapolis Passenger association notifies Chairman Goodrich a rate of one fare plus 25 cents will be offered during the Republican state convention in Indianapolis on April 20.
M. M. McMorrow will visit St. Marys tomorrow with his daughter to meet supporters. In Fairbanks township A. E. Hazelrigg sold Homer Pittman’s 90 acre farm to Henry Johnson for 4500 dollars.
The body of Martin V. Moser was found early Tuesday on rocks under the Wabash railroad bridge near the soldiers home at Danville Illinois. The Danville bridge has a history as a dangerous spot with many past victims. Moser formerly lived in Sullivan and Graysville and served as the veterinary surgeon of the soldiers home at Danville. He was about 65 and a Civil War veteran. The remains will be brought for burial in this city.
Landowners in Gill township gathered at the Hays office to urge a commission appropriation for levee repairs from recent high water. A follow up meeting at the levee confirmed repairs are necessary and pending.
A new industry starts in Sullivan as Cunningham & Mankedick begin manufacturing cement blocks. The plant uses the old Fisher mill at the Y junction of the I C and the BE & T H railroads, promising cheap building material for the county.
Carlisle Indiana April 19 J F Alumbaugh received a letter from uncle John L Gobin long believed dead. At 65 he now lives in Alton Missouri and was once a Carlisle businessman who moved west after reverses. Relatives including daughter Mrs J R Whalen celebrate the news he is alive.
The remains of Mrs. T. A. Cox who died in Florida arrived in Bloomfield Ind for burial. She was the wife of Rev. T. A. Cox pastor of the Christian church at Carlisle and formerly pastor here for several years. The couple had gone to Florida for Mrs. Cox's health.
W H Wallace of Curry township visited Sullivan Wednesday night and became loud in saloons. He was escorted to the county jail by Sunny Jim Willis and placed behind bars as a delegate bound for the Spencer convention. Later the party teased him and sent him to Spencer. No fine was recorded and Wallace’s name was erased, leaving the Democratic party dominant in Sullivan county.

Geo D. Arnold aged 26 dropped dead near Carlisle Indiana around noon yesterday presumably from heart failure. He lived in Louisville Kentucky and was visiting his uncle George C. Arnold. He served as instructor of physical culture at Illinois State University since 1902 but quit last November due to nervous prostration from over work. Before Illinois he was at Miami College Oxford Ohio.
