Work on the Colonade theatre is progressing rapidly on South Court Street. Wall erection should finish by week’s end and carpentry began Monday. Scenery has been purchased and the theatre will be ready for use in June with a capacity of seven hundred.

Subscription agent sparks 40 year reunion of brothers
Last November a labor paper subscription agent spotted a resemblance between James Sneedon of Shirley Hill and his Ohio-based friend Sneedon. James wrote, learned the man was his long-lost brother Alexander Sneedon of Murray City, Ohio. Alexander and family visited, then they departed for Cleveland to reconnect with another brother not seen in 34 years.

Shelburn Hotel Destroyed by Fire in Historic Town
Shelburn, April 14. The Shelburn Hotel, one of the town’s oldest structures, was destroyed by fire early Monday morning. Built in 1855 by Paschal Shelburn, it began as a warehouse and changed hands through several owners who added a second story, expanded the hotel, and modernized. At the time of the blaze, the building was leased by Harrison Taylor.

Town Board Paves South Main with Brick and Builds Concrete Walks

Youthful Thieves Steal Man's Horse in Digging Case
In Dugger Indiana on April 13 three South Linton youths David Tincher John Stitt and Oscar Maddox took a horse and buggy from near the electric light plant planning to head to California. The horse belonged to Russell Benjamin of Dugger. After police traced the thieves they were caught at Coalmont early this morning. The horse was returned and Tincher confessed to the act. Tincher will be returned to reform school Plainfield while Stitt and Maddox faces possible Plainfield admission.

Robert Bardsley of Shelburn and George Berlien of Farmersburg were convicted in circuit court for conducting blind tigers. They were fined 75 and 100 dollars respectively and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Judge Henderson will sentence them tomorrow.

In Shelburn Rev. J. B. Sidebottom, pastor of the Methodist church, received a notice ordering him to depart within ten days to avoid “blown to hell” by dynamite. A bottle of whiskey and a bundle of switches accompanied the warning after an explosion near his door. Urie Decker was arrested Saturday morning by Marshal Willis on a charge of operating a blind tiger at Dugger. He posted bond for his appearance in this case, based on an affidavit by George Cleveland. Authorities say there is strong evidence against him and a conviction seems likely.

Lora Robbins Injured in Horse Incident Near City
Ten year old Lora Robbins daughter of Ed Robbins farmer east of the city suffered a severe gash on her left hip when a horse thrown by fright struck her. Uncle Fred Robbins rode with her as the horse bolted and was uninjured. Dr Joe H Crowder dressed the wound requiring 14 stitches. Lora is recovering.
