Pioneer Resident Joseph O Neal Dead at 73 in Curry Township
Joseph O Neal a pioneer resident of Sullivan county died last Friday at his Curry township home after a five week illness at age 73. Born February 27 1833 in Fairbanks township he was a Civil War veteran and long time church member. He is survived by his wife six children and two sisters and was buried at Liberty Christian church after funeral services conducted there.

Davis Breaks Hay Shipping Record for Sullivan
Charles L. Davis of this city again broke the hay shipping record by loading 48,100 pounds about 223 tons of baled hay for shipment to Birmingham Alabama. A. B. Davis supervised the consign ment in a Wisconsin Central furniture car last Friday.

Boles Sentenced in Burglary Case at Local Circuit Court
John Boles, arrested for burglarizing H. H. Wilson's Mildred store, was found guilty in circuit court and given an indeterminate sentence to the Southern reformatory in Jeffersonville. An additional indictment for complicity with Spencer Hiatt in a Leach’s Saloon raid is pending. Hiatt, who escaped Bloomfield jail, aided Boles. both men linked by prior crimes.

Isaac Stewart Dies After Illness in This City
Isaac Stewart a noted county resident died at his home Tuesday morning after a two year stomach illness. Born in Sullivan in 1854 he lived here most of his life and worked as a printer and later as manager of the hay press for W. H. Crowder. He is survived by his wife and two daughters Nellie and Nina.

Indianapolis letters report President Wellington of the 11th district will sign the 1908 scale at Evansville. Mines Ehrlich east of Terre Haute Central at Coal mont Miller and Wabash in West Terre Haute signed last night. Although half a million UMWA members did not resume work, union HQ sees no unusual action. Miners in the central district celebrate the eight hour day anniversary. Willis shoots drunken miner in Shelburn encounter
Coal miner Thomas Plummer of Shelburn was arrested by City Marshal James Willis for intoxication. When Plummer resisted and attacked the marshal with a brick, Willis fired a shot into Plummer’s right hand, then jailed him on intoxication and resisting an officer charges.
